Responsible Gambling
Gambling is entertainment that costs money. It is not a plan for income, a way out of debt, or a strategy. If you gamble, plan to lose what you stake — anything you win back is a bonus, not the expectation. This page exists so you know the warning signs, how to set real limits, and where to get free confidential help.
If any of these sound familiar, please read on
- You are betting more than you planned to lose, or chasing losses to break even.
- You are hiding the size or frequency of your play from a partner, family, or friends.
- Gambling is interfering with sleep, work, studying, or how you show up for the people around you.
- You have borrowed money, sold possessions, or used bill money to keep playing.
- You feel restless, anxious, or irritable when you cannot gamble, and relief when you can.
- You have tried to cut down or stop before and could not stick to it.
Recognising one or two of these does not mean you have a gambling problem. It does mean it is worth pausing, taking a break, and talking to someone you trust or one of the free confidential services listed below.
Setting limits that actually hold
The most reliable limits are the ones set before you sit down and enforced by something other than willpower. In practice, that means money limits, time limits, and access limits — set in the casino's own tools, not in your head.
Money
Decide the maximum you can lose this week from money you have already set aside for entertainment. If the operator provides a deposit limit, set it before you deposit; otherwise use a bank gambling block or another external spending control available where you live.
Time
Set a session time limit with an operator tool when available, or use a device timer that you cannot easily ignore. When it ends, log out rather than renegotiating the limit mid-session.
Access
If limits are not enough, use the operator's cool-off or self-exclusion route and a jurisdiction-wide exclusion scheme where one exists. Durations, scope, and reversal rules vary, so read the confirmation before activating it.
Casino tools worth using
Tool availability and legal requirements differ by operator and jurisdiction. Look for clear controls under "Responsible Gambling" or "Account Controls" before depositing. Missing, unclear, or support-only controls are a caution flag; CryptoHut records published controls when available and does not describe them as tested unless a dated check is logged. See How We Review.
- Deposit limits (daily / weekly / monthly): enforced by the operator when supported. Confirm which payment methods and wallets the limit covers, when a decrease starts, and whether an increase has a cooling-off delay.
- Loss and wager limits: cap net losses or total turnover in a period. Useful when deposit limits are not enough because you keep redepositing winnings.
- Session time limits and reality checks: pop up during play with elapsed time and net position, giving you a genuine decision point.
- Cool-off: a temporary break where offered. Confirm the duration, whether deposits and play are both blocked, and whether linked brands are covered.
- Self-exclusion: a longer block whose duration and brand coverage vary. Jurisdiction-wide schemes, such as GAMSTOP for licensed online operators in Great Britain, can provide broader coverage than a single account.
